91心頭利 faculty, staff and students volunteered to help incoming freshmen move into the universitys residence halls at the beginning of each school year.
This year, freshman move-in day was Thursday, Aug. 25, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Last year, the Movers and Groovers program garnered 921 volunteers. Jill Church, director of University Housing (formerly Residence Services) at Kent 91心頭利, anticipated more than 900 volunteers again this year.
The program is completely student run and organized, Church said. Kent Interhall Council is the group responsible for this program. Volunteers include fraternities and sororities, campus ministry groups, academic groups and university departments. Everyone here at Kent 91心頭利 really loves to get involved with the freshman move-in program.
This year, Movers and Groovers wore 90s-themed outfits and played music from the 90s, while assisting new students.
The Movers and Groovers program is part of Kent 91心頭利s Welcome Weekend, an orientation program that runs from Aug. 25-29. Welcome Weekend includes activities and events to encourage students to explore the Kent 91心頭利 community and provides a smooth transition to the university environment.
